A Trip to Gaspésie… and Dandelions!
When you can mix work and leisure… you make the most of it!
Spending the day… on the road!
Exactly two weeks ago, my partner and I left Montréal for Gaspésie, where work was calling him.
But Gaspésie… is far! It took us the whole day to get there (with a few stops along the way, of course, to stretch our legs!).
The perks of remote work!
While my partner had a client to meet on site, I was able to work remotely from our hotel room — with the waves of the St. Lawrence River as my backdrop and soundtrack.
Magical! A refreshing change from honking cars and city noise.
When work gives way to leisure!
Once our workday was done, we took the time to wander around the town of Matane and admire the simplicity and natural beauty of the area.
The Dandelion
Its undeniable pull
As we walked along one of the many pedestrian trails in town, I couldn't resist blowing a few dandelion seeds into the air as soon as I saw all those fluffy white heads lining the path!
What it symbolizes for me
Although the dandelion carries many meanings, for me it represents:
Our inner strength
Our ability to renew ourselves
Our capacity to touch what surrounds us — one tiny seed at a time
A task more complex than expected
I thought I'd film myself blowing on a dandelion in one quick take… but that little six‑second video took several dandelions and several attempts!
It reminded me that tasks aren't always as simple as they seem at first — but with resilience, trial and error, we eventually move forward.
Letting our expectations drift with the wind
The final result also wasn't what I had initially imagined… reminding me of another important lesson.
We shouldn't cling to the final outcome we picture — but instead savor each moment along the way.
Even though the video didn't meet my original expectations, we had a lot of fun filming the different takes, and we even discovered the “slo‑mo” mode on our phones!
Your turn!
What does the dandelion represent for you?
In what situations have you taken on a task that turned out to be more difficult than expected? And how closely did the final result align with what you had imagined?
